Back from Holiday

Great way to start a blog......post once and then go on holiday....no such a good look I know. I certainly won't be a daily blogger...but I hope to achieve at least one post per week.

Any way, we've been up North at our annual holiday spot, Kawa Kawa Bay (just out of Clevendon up Auckland way for those who haven't heard of it before). Great little place, only one 6 unit motel there right on the beach, and as we usually go the last 2 weeks of January, we pretty much have the place to ourselves, (other than weekends when all the boaties head out that way). We meet friends from Palmerston North up there and they hire a boat, and my brother and his family come out from Titirangi and he bring out his boat also. So the kids can fish, biscuit and waterski etc etc. This year we went to Coromandel town first for a few days so Taylor could ride the Driving Creek railway - which is set in a pottery in the hills overlooking Coromandel town. Its a miniture railway that goes into the bush for an hours ride.....a 10 year old boys dream. Stayed at the Shelly Bay Top 10 Holiday Park right on the beach (see sunset photo below of Taylor biking along the beach there) for the 2 nights that we were there.....great spot.

On the scrapping front - not much to report....but thought I'd post a couple of layouts I'd done a few months back using a photos from our 2007 New Years trip to Kawa Kawa Bay. 1st one is a group shot of our whole gang (Taylor's 2 boy cousins and the other kids that join us up there) we always have a night at Miranda Hot Pools (just 40 mins away) and I'm not sure if you can read the journalling...but I asked them to do a Charlies Angels pose and this is what I got!!!!!
2nd layout - I always make my 2 nephews and niece pose for me with Taylor for their annual "cousins" photo shoot. I just had to scrap this photo, see how "over it" the 3 boys are at the front, but my 3 year old niece, Sophie, is all smiles and lapping up the attention at the back. That girl just loves the camera. So the title of the page was simply what they kept saying to me "No More photos Aunty Jo!"

That's probably all for now.....other than I had some great news on Friday - that I have had 3 layouts accepted by Scrapbooking Memories - really excited as I haven't had any work published with them before. Not sure what issue they will be out in. I haven't really had (or made the time) to submit work for magazines before....but I hoping to do this more in 2008.

Finally Decided to start a blog

After resisting the urge to start a blog for the last 18mths I have finally taken the plunge. No banner yet.....got to figure out how to create one - so this blog is very much a work in progress.

This is will be a place for me to share some of my scrapbooking and also the odd update on what's happening in the Burney household.

Kicked off my scrapbooking for 2008 with a layout for the Fiskars ambassadors blog http://www.fiskarscraft.typepad.com/

(The picture in this layout was taken when Taylor turned 1 (I forgot what a gorgeous little baldy he was at this age) and he got his Little Tikes car for his birthday - he was so excited....he is actually pretending to look in the pretend rear vision mirror here and backing the car with his little feet - so cute. I have struggled to scrap this photo due to all the bold colour in the picture but the Heidi Grace "Oh So Moody" scrapbook range's colours were made for this photo. Really enjoyed scrapping this old photo - and loved doing the flowers (figured I could get away with this given the picture was taken in the garden). Don't get to do too much girlie stuff given I mainly scrap Taylor.)

I feel extremely honoured to be a NZ Fiskars ambassador and part of a team of such talented scrapbookers on both sides of the Tasman. If you are a scrapper this is a great blog to keep an eye on....lots happening. We all know about the great Fiskars tools and most of us own at least one, if not many of them. In addition Fiskars are releasing an increasing amount of scrapbook product from Heidi Grace, Cloud 9, Lil Davis etc into Aussie & NZ.

Okay probably babbled enough for my first post.
